While we do not maintain a zoo, TNC does house a small collection of animals that cannot be released into the wild. Among those animals are our famous Barred Owls, Mitzi & Mene. Both of our beautiful owls were struck by cars, a tragically common occurrence, because of litter that was left on the side of the road. Each suffered a broken wing removing their ability to hunt and survive.
These animals travel to school, scout, library and environmental groups all around the tri-state helping to educate the public on the importance of protecting our natural world, preserving our amazing wildlife and bringing the joy of nature to many nature starved communities.
Caring for these amazing creatures requires thousands of dollars each year so that we may provide food, shelter, medical care, and a nurturing environment for them to live in. It takes a lot of help from people like you!
