Volunteers play a vital role in checking boundary markers, spotting potential encroachments, and removing litter along the edges closest to homes and roadways. Your time directly supports the long-term protection of this cherished natural space!
This important work happens before spring growth, when leaf-free trees and open terrain make the boundary easiest to navigate. Volunteers will spend at least three hours assisting along specific sections of the preserve.
Adults comfortable with uneven terrain and moderate hiking (meet at 9:00 am; may be assigned to drive to a boundary location)
Teens ages 14+ (meet at 9:00 am; will depart on foot from the TNC Pavilion)
Families with younger children (meet at 9:15 am; will walk together from the TNC Pavilion)
Meet at the TNC Education Pavilion for assignments, supplies, and instructions. This event is fully outdoors, dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring work gloves. Smartphones are helpful for documenting findings. In case of inclement weather, please call 201-568-6093 for updates.
Let us know how many volunteers are coming so we can prepare gear and assignments. All hours count toward school volunteer requirements.
